DevonWarren's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I was so excited and nervous at the same time meeting my first client.. Im sure he could tell as he arrived. But we chatted and got to know oneanother a bit. It was a great session, he is still a client today.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Do i consider myself to be successful. I have aquired a variety of techniques through the years that has given me the skills to travel and meet new people everyday. I make a living doing something i love and that genuinely helps people. The releif and gratitude people can show is an extremely rewarding feeling.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Hobbies, Iv been in school lately so time for hobbies and travels are rare.. But i love playing sports, horseback riding, art, experiencing new and unique foods and ****tails, gathering at a lake for a bbq with friends.. Anything with water and im excited! Lol I also have a passion for restoring & repourposing furniture, as well creating art out of old or raw materials.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I would definately miss being a masseur. The freedom to get up and take a trip, The ability to new people everyday, the calming & serene lifestyle and atmosphere i experience everyday and get to create for my clients for the hour or 2 they are with me really makes it all worth it.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I really take my time in evaluating each client so that i can tailor each experience to individual needs of your body. This makes my mission in healing, relaxing and balancing your body, mind and spirit as one, much easier to obtain.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
My mission is to have every individual leave my table feeling reborn, refreashed, balanced, and completely relaxed; ready to face the day ahead of them.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Try to be as versatile as possible, learn as much as you can. There are so many rewarding and beneficial routes to take in massage, and there are thousands of styles, tecnuiqes & options to offer making you more and more marketable.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I think my techniques and services set me apart from other masseurs. I am determined in my mission and have aquired a vast and unique set of skills to provide my services.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have been a masseur for almost 7years, actively off and on. Im also in the medical feild. Id like to think that massage & spa will always be a part of my life as i grow into who i am supposed to be. But our paths or always changing. Im excited about the journey either way.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I have not lately traveled much, though i am planing a tour for the end of this month (November). I prefer to be able to travel, but studies can be somewhat restrictive.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I personally love to learn, and have found that my versatility makes me marketable. However its the passion, drive & determination that makes me successful .. Someone with the basic education can be just as successful or even more so, as someone with extensive training. Your passion will push you further to success faster than all the education you can get. There is another aspect out side of training, something in some of us that u cant be taught.. Wether its called "intuition", or "having a natural gift for" .. Its a an ability to "have the touch" you just cant be taught.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I strive to exceed thier expectations ..
Why did you become a Masseur?
I became a masseur, the same reason i became a nurse. I have a natural desire to help people, to heal them, provide a safe and therapeutic experience for people. It has become a passion.
