DiasRicardo's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
My first client was in massage school. My instructor wanted to know if I could be a successful massage therapist. He selected a client from the massage clinic for my test session. The client was very hairy and overweight and with pain. I was glad to help him heal and feel good. When the session was over, the client was very happy and complimentary. My instructor congratulated me on a successful massage, and told me that I had what it takes to be a great massage therapist. I was very pleased with that experience.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Yes, I would miss it if I changed careers. It is not so addictive to me as it is relaxing. I can concentrate on my client's needs and feelings, go into a zen-like zone and enjoy the music and ambiance, the flow of energy, and the atmosphere between me and my client.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes, I am successful. I have many regular clients. I have healed many people. I now have my own private studio with a fireplace and a great table and linens, and I am proud to have a good career.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I want my clients to know that I really appreciate that they selected me out of all the massage therapists in Montreal. I love to hear my clients say they chose me because they trust me.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I am an artist also. I am a painter and sculptor. I also love good food, wine and all kinds of music from opera and orchestras to boleros and singers like Piaf, Adele, and Aznavour.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I want them to be happy and blissful, to feel good about themselves, to be free of pain, to have a good night's sleep, and to want to return to me soon.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Yes, because you must learn about the function and makeup of the muscles, sinews, nerves and organs to be able to manipulate and care for them properly.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I have traveled all over the world. And I love my home.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I felt so wonderful after my first massage experience, that I wanted to become a masseur.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Attend massage school and become certified.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I love what I do. I do not judge others.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
13 years. I will always have massage in my life.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
Thinking. wow that was amazing.
