What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Just keep going for it. When I first started, I had no clue what I was doing. I didn't even know if the client was necessarily enjoying the session, and if "yeah, it feels good" was an honest response, or if they were just trying to be kind. I had no sense of technique, or a routine that I would follow through when doing a massage.
As I kept meeting up with different clients, I decided that I would have to just create a routine that I would follow through with, so that not only is there a game plan of what to do, I can kind of plan according to length of the massage session and ensure that you're trying to give a fair amount of time to both the client and yourself, without watching the clock.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
While having some experience with technique and style of massage is quite handy, I think if you have the willingness to learn and expand on different styles of massage, and overall just being able to take feedback and constructive criticism from clients, you can be successful. I find it's mostly just being able to take what you already know, and some how cater it to the clients' wants and needs.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I like to try and travel at least few times a year. We live in such a vast world, and with the technology to travel, we might as well take advantage and explore.
On the contrary, in my day-to-day life, I do find myself to be more of a homebody. I've done going out on the weekends with friends, and continue to do so here and there, but it's more on occasion than every (other) weekend.
