GentleSEA's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I sure do! I remember it going very well. As I was taking a shower afterward, I specifically remember smiling from ear to ear and thinking "this is what I'm meant to do." This has been the perfect career for me ever since!
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I wouldn't say being a masseur is addictive at all. I certainly love what I do, and would miss it terribly if I were to give it up, but addiction is another thing entirely.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I would certainly say so! It is very rare when a client leaves me unsatisfied. The only time in particular I can recall was likely due to a lack of communication on their part. Never be afraid to communicate with your masseur!
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
As my profile name suggests, I am a very loving and caring person. Empathy is what leads my life more than any other trait. Fear has no home in my heart, and certainly no place in any session with a client of mine. Life is for loving, and anything I can do to help another man feel that love is a gift.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Relaxed, satisfied and fulfilled more than anything else. I also try my best to ensure each session with me carries a sense of mutual respect for one another. I always enjoy getting to know my clients better, both physically and emotionally. The best client is one I can consider a friend!
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I am especially interested in the arts - film and music in particular. I also love going to museums, and I always savor any time I can get outdoors.
Why did you become a Masseur?
This is a career which is attuned to a number of my personal skills, namely my ability to correctly perceive the feelings of others. I am also a very personable being, and find it rather easy to connect with other people. Small talk is never awkward for me, and I find it fairly easy to bridge the gap when there is any trepidation on the other side of any given relationship. Should go without saying, but I have a number of physical skills which also greatly assist in this line of work.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Make sure you are in a position in your life where you are emotionally stable and secure. This is paramount to any other requirement. Humbleness is important in this line of work too, as is an ability to communicate openly and comfortably.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
My genuine, personal care for the lives of others. You will never enter my space with the feeling that I do not care about your needs, or that I do not respect you as a human being. I am just as friendly as I am skilled.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
As of this interview, I have been doing this for roughly seven years! I certainly see myself maintaining this lovely career for the foreseeable future, if not for the rest of my life.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I love to travel and do so whenever I can! If you're interested in bringing me to your location, let me know. Would love to see your neck of the woods!
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Not necessarily. I have had little in the way of formal training, but have found great success in this field. Knowledge is obviously a powerful thing and certainly can't hurt, but one can perhaps be too prepared. One's personal skills are undoubtedly more important in this line of work, I feel.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
Relaxed, satisfied and fulfilled more than anything else. I also try my best to ensure each session with me carries a sense of mutual respect for one another. I always enjoy getting to know my clients better, both physically and emotionally. The best client is one I can consider a friend!
