IanShaw's Massage Interview
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
The body is a brilliant puzzle that we tend to jumble in our day to day activities. I hope to assist in putting the picture back together. Touch especially skin to skin is a carnal urge. And raw energies are good and potentially disruptive. So when my clients leave I hope they are feeling more complete, focused and relaxed having all that carnal hunger released
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
My very loyal dog! Reading, Baking, and exploring photography recently. And the art of touch
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
For corrective Therapy post trauma and medical conditions that effect muscle and nervous system then you should get treated by a RMT. Relaxing invigoration sensual and spiritual Therapies are best suited outside of the clinic style environments and the studio/home spa. Success in one or the other is dependant on passion and intent
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I hope that through the power of touch and genuine connections built through simple communication that my clients are removed from the daily grind for a brief moment so I can remove some stress and replace that with a quiet energy to fuel themselves for the rest of the day and of course a smile
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
My last trip that required airplanes was in 2015, and have done more regional adventures during the last 3 yrs. I enjoy traveling and when opportunities present themselves I try to take them.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Be selfish with your personal time and don’t over work yourself.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
If given the opportunity I would have attended butler school in the Netherlands and Baking is like yoga for my mental health.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I don’t see any future that doesn’t have massage in it. I may not need to massage for income in the future but I wouldn’t drop clients unless it’s due to moving or health. So in that case yes if I was force to stop it would be missed
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
My long arms,
The welcoming bark of my dog demanding attention from the Clients before all my attention is on The client. And my conversation and physical communication
