Izac's Massage Interview
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Yes! It's very addictive. I love bringing comfort, relaxation, and an escape form reality for my clients. It's a blessing to be able. to.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I want my clients to feel like they don't want to leave. I have a beautiful studio that feels like an escape from reality. I want them to not be able to wait to come back.
Why did you become a Masseur?
It is very rewarding to bring medical relief and relaxation to people. Plus I'm good at it, and I'm not good at a lot of things.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I'm friendly, and really listen to my clients needs. I also check up on them regularly to see if I'm doing well.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I don't get too much spare time, b/c I work so much. But I enjoy watching reality tv/sitcoms. I go to church too.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
It's been a hobby for years, but I've had the business/license since January 2015. I can see myself doing this for many more years.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
It's not so much "extensive" or quantity time that's important, but quality time. I only attended school for 6 months, and the minimal 500 hours, but I went to the best school, and they perfected my skills.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I want them to feel so relaxed that they can't get up and dress or drive off. But of course I hope that's never the case lol.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
You should not do this for the money, but b/c you have a genuine passion to bring comfort, healing, and relaxation to people.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I would say I'm very successful. I've been licensed for 5 years working full time all by myself. I have many repeat clients as well.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I try to travel quite a bit and always enjoy sharing my talent in other cities. Clients feel like they have to work with a sense of urgency to see me b/c I'm not always there, so that's nice. I'm also licensed in multiple states, and some states let LMTs practice for a few hours a year from other states. I do both road trips and fly.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I do remember my very first paid client when I finished massage school. I also remember my very first client when I moved 45 minutes away to Atlanta, shortly after, where I'd stay for 2 years. He found me on Craigslist. I miss that site! It was around that time that I realized my calling was working with male clients.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I was born in Michigan, but I grew up in Georgia. I've lived in Nashville now for 3 years and love it. I have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ and volunteer/donate money to/attend church.
