JPapi's Massage Interview
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Relaxed and satisfied. I want them to feel taken care of and pleased. I’d like them to feel they’ve made a new friend. If they come in with pain, I’d expect the pain to feel better by the time they leave. If they arrive feeling tense, I will definitely take care of that. After a good session with me, a client should feel complete and yet look forward to the next time I work on them :)
Why did you become a Masseur?
Once I get a massage flowing right(once I get in my groove) its relaxing and soothing for me as well. My hands gliding smoothly over someones skin, feeling it warm up, is a feeling I found out I enjoyed.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I was more nervous than him! It was his first time as well, but everything went away with the warmth of a touch. That's when I knew I wanted to be a masseur. Feeling that warmth and pleasing another person was something I definitely wanted to do
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
YES! before I learned how to do it properly I was not the biggest fan of giving massages, but now that's my favorite thing to do with a person if the opportunity presents itself
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I like them to feel taken care of, happy that they made the choice of coming with me :)
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I'm more of a homebody. That way anything I might possibly need will be nearby. Plus i won't risk the chance of forgetting anything
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Do whatever brings you energy in that moment. If giving the gift of relaxation, pleasure, and comfort gives you energy... by all means :)
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
graphics designer
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
that I'm friendly, easy to talk to. no reason to feel nervous around me :)
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
2 years, I really enjoy it, its relaxing for me, giving a massage, just as it is for the client. it's soothing. Yes i see myself continuing :)
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I want to be the best at what I do so I take things very seriously. Making sure you feel comfortable and your happiness is important to me
I'm here to build reliable relaxing regular relationships with my clients so that they see me as a friend and not some stranger
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
you gotta know what you're doing. you could really hurt someone if you're not careful. Different things are required for different types of massages so it depends on what you're providing. But one should always know what they're doing and aim to be good at it and keep improving :)
