JayNearAustin's Massage Interview
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Yes. I definitely like working in massage.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I am very skilled and knowledgeable about relaxation. I enjoy my job, and that usually translates to how I work with clients. I like giving my clients the experience they’ve asked for, whether it’s a therapeutic massage, working on problem areas, tight muscles, or just pure relaxation. I can deliver a great session for them.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
That they picked the correct therapist for them, and I have addressed their needs, and what they’re wanting!
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I like working with my hands even when I’m not doing massage. I like woodworking, pottery, working in the yard, as well as just relaxing in front of the TV!
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes. I have had several regular clients wherever I’ve worked, and very satisfied with their massages. I give my clients what they ask for, and that means they’re very satisfied with their sessions, and I’ve met their expectations.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I prefer a stress-free job and I enjoy giving massage to others, it’s very relaxing for me, too. Very relaxing for everyone.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
I’d say it’s not for everyone, but it’s rewarding to make others feel good and relaxed. You need to want to touch others, and be comfortable, and enjoy what you do. You should remember that it’s all about how you treat your clients. And everyone of them need to be taken care of, and treated well.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I’ve been licensed since 2007, and plan on continuing until I can no longer work. I enjoy my job and the people I meet.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I travel occasionally, mostly to visit relatives, a few times a year. I prefer to stick around the house.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I don’t think so. I like learning new techniques, but I prefer to be good at a few things, rather than take a lot of classes and not be proficient.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I hope they get the type of massage they wanted, and want to see me again for their massage needs, and would recommend me to their friends.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Not really, that was 12yrs ago, though I remember the place I started at, and that I was nervous, hoping my clients would enjoy their massage. I do remember thinking that I’m getting paid to make people feel good, which amazed me.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I’m very intuitive, and I can relax most everyone I’ve worked on. My clients feel great afterwards, and have told me that it was a great experience, and usually rebook for another session. I listen to their concerns, and work my hardest to reach the goals they’ve asked for.
