JordanBrandon's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I Don't remember my first client would be in 2005 before I got certified in 2006. I didn't know what I was doing back then, but I had the ambition to become the best in the nation from the very beginning
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Being my own boss is addictive, I had to adapt being that after my knee surgery I could no longer be a paramedic so I began to lean more on my massage skills. I have built myself from the ground up all over the United States. I would miss meeting stars and national athletes, not sure I would miss "massage: itself, I actually would rather prefer to get massages myself but I am so busy with business that I rarely get to treat myself, and when I do treat myself I am very selective and I do NOT allow men to massage me, I am very dominant and am NOT comfortable in that regard, I may massage men and women, but I only allow females to Massage me.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I have been ranked in 2016 june and jult for 60+ days straight as the most viewed male masseur in the entire globe, out of thousands of advertisers, but that was for 60 days, the title/ ranking does rotate and others have ALSO held that title, but still its pretty crazy to see yourself on the COVER of a newspaper or magazine which I have been on, and to also see yourself in the #1 spot on Masseur finder
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I am a Graduate Student about to graduate this year 2017, I am a US ARMY combat medic veteran, I was active duty, I was in a very tough cavalry unit. I don't like games, or to be asked questions that would put me in jeopardy. I don't like to be asked much about my personal life, I separate my personal life from this life. Aside from that I am THE MOST friendly, personable comfortable person to be around you could ever imagine, you will feel like you've known me for ever. I give discounts to repeat clients by the 2nd time I see them.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Happy, renewed, rejuvenated, not wanting to see anyone else but me
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I am a Published Author, I used to not be able to afford to help children's charities, but I decided to make the royalties go to children dying of terminal illnesses. I am a vocalist/singer working on a record, and finally my life goal will be to write a movie, making it as perfect as can be based on a true story (my life) which has been a roller coaster ride of ups and downs.
Why did you become a Masseur?
Someone gave me the idea in 2005, lets put it that way
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Use a separate phone number for business, be friendly to those who are also friendly to you, but also be very mindful and careful of people who are contacting you to let off steam in their personal frustrated lives. Also ...the better you get, the bigger you get in the business the more there will be competing masseurs who will also attempt to tare you down because you're taking up most of the business in the area, It is very unfortunate because I would NEVER do anything like that, I am VERY good to people who are normal, sane, fair, who don't do negative things. I would also give the advice to ALWAYS make sure and HOUR is an HOUR, not 20 minutes. Don't ever cheat your clients, and if you are for REAL and work hard it pays off and being honest is always the best
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
Well i am sure I am NOT the only masseur who travels, but I may be one of the very "few" who has been flown on a plane to other parts of the world by celebrities and public figures. I don't consider myself special, its a job. But I have had a lot of funny and interesting stories in my day
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have been a masseur since 2006 and I plan to retire in 2018.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I travel constantly
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Everything comes with time. Experience is not 1 dimensional. Getting all the training in the world up front can still leave you naive to what is out there and what you're up against. I think being certified is essential and key, but further training should gradually also be parallel with your time in the business and your trial and error, etc. It should come hand n hand with time, you should also incorporate new technologies, and also find out what DOESn't Work, knowing what to avoid I believe is MORE than 50% of the battle
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
rejuvenated, renewed, happy and as if they also made a new friend
