Lakshmi's Massage Interview
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Massage is addictive, but it's a beautiful addiction if I must say so because the human body is in dire need of consistent support. In the modern world we lack touch and care and I believe if people could receive massage daily or regularly then half of the issues we suffer would wither away.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I have been told that I am a great listener. It's true that people come for bodywork but many guys also come because they need mental comfort. There aren't many places where men can open up and feel comfortable. I feel grateful that men are able to see support in me and I am happy I can provide such comfort.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
My hobbies include anything in nature, hiking, ocean/beach, parks, swimming, producing art, tea, and travel
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
There are many guys who get into massage but not all of them continue to study and learn. I enjoy learning and consistently upgrading my skills to better serve.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Some people have a natural touch and gift for massage but it's amazing what you can learn via training. I appreciate all of my former instructors. The body is beautiful but complex. Having a deeper understanding of how it functions most definitely upgrades the skills of the therapist.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I would love for them to feel ease, comfort and bliss. I would love for them to feel like they will return again and again.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I was at a point of my life where I wanted to discover a way to not just live health and wellness but also to share it with others. I have found that in addition to healthy eating and exercise, massage is that way for me
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I love to travel to other countries. Love learning about different peoples and cultures.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I've worked in clinical setting around two years but have been practicing formally for more than five years. I will never throw away massage as it is a healing part of my life even if I am the one giving the massage. Touch is sacred.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Be patient with yourself as there is a lot to learn. You want to understand your "why" because once you do you will always have a solid floor to stand on. Massage is truly a gift and being able to give that to others is a beautiful thing. Always remember that the client is essentially you, so treated them as you would like to be treated.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Blissful!
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Absolutely! It is truly an honor to serve
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Honestly I don't remember my first client. It seemed a smooth transition from doing clinical in the massage school to working with the public. I absolutely enjoyed massage school and it was always an exciting adventure to dive into the world of body work!
