Madmaxx's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Of course I remember my first client. Mostly because I was nervous and wanted so badly to give him the best possible experience, but I was so fortunate because he was so sweet and when I asked him what he wanted from me he patiently directed me and it turned into a relationship I still have to this day. Now I feel so silly when I consider my nerves. For me giving a massage isn’t just one thing or another, it is a whole experience in which relief is given, connection is made, and relationships can be formed. Rarely have I had a client since that I have not continued to work with after a first visit since. And I am very proud of that.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
It is absolutely addictive. Seeing the smile on clients faces and hearing how much better their weeks were after our visits is what makes me want to keep doing it forever.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
100%. A successful masseur provides relief to clients and hears them and their needs beyond just working a muscle. And I do that.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I will never judge you. Communicate with me and I’ll give you EXACTLY what you need.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Confused. As to why no one has ever treated them as I did before.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Workout and take my dog on adventures.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
The connection I form with my clients.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
For some it does. There is a natural self awareness and awareness of others that is untaught and unlearnable that I fear many do not have and which derives the client of a truly wonderful experience
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I’ve never not see a client more than once. They all leave feeling like they were just seen and understood and now feel much better for it in body and mind.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I became a masseur because what I’ve always wanted in life is to have an impact on others, and I feel like the experience I give my clients is different and more personal and intimate than anyone else out there. I want to know them and their body. I want to know what they want more than they know it. And I want to leave them in a haze knowing that the experience they had was exactly what they needed.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Be open to your clients needs and don’t worry about being perfect.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
Five years, and I’d like to continue for as long as I am appreciated
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
Not too often. I stay in the Seattle area mostly but I’d love to travel more
