MagicHandsDavid's Massage Interview
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Yes. I will miss it. I love meeting new people and generally make people very comfortable so usually I make quick friends with most of my clients.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
It depends on how you define success I guess. I did it full time for a while and even when you love something, full time of anything can take the fun out of it. But now that I do it part time again, I have fell in love with it all over again. And that shows in my massages. So yes. I think I am a successful Masseur.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Well after they contact me, I was them to be in anticipation for the massage and thinking, "He was a nice guy." After the massage, I would like them to feel satisfied, happy, and somewhat like jello.
Why did you become a Masseur?
Honestly I dated a massage therapist and kinda caught the bug myself.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I would like them to feel good, mentally and physically. Hopefully already looking forward to the next massage.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Maybe not to be successful, but great technique and being a people person goes a very long way so extensive training is somewhat necessary to get your technique down.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I love to travel and travel to close to Chattanooga cities over the weekend almost every weekend.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
So I started my massage therapy career really when I started the massage therapy at Gulf Coast State in 2016 and graduated in 2017 so 6 years now.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I just a regular guy. I don't have a perfect body but I am still a decent looking guy, so generally men feel more comfortable around me. And I have strong hands, training, and give a damn good massage. I think all that combined sets me apart from the rest.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Get the training and immerse yourself in it at first, preferably working full time. Then before you get burnt out, maybe switch it up and go to part-time.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I usually do art of some sort. Whether it's painting, screen printing, drawing, making crystal wrap jewelry, or just doing something creative, art really is my hobby. Also I collect crystals.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
Well my day job now is remodeling houses and that takes up the majority of my time so I generally tell my clients that.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Well my first real paying client was a man whose back was so tight that he got electrolysis once a week to loosen it up. I would struggle to loosen that back even now. But I didn't give up and finally after 90 minutes of very intense massage, his back loosened a bit. I was sweaty and drained and didn't give a massage for almost 24 hours, but I feel like the massage was successful.
