MarcPXXX's Massage Interview
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have been a Masseur for six years and will continue to provide my services until I am no longer useful to others.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Extensive training would be beneficial to any Masseur. When learning new techniques or gaining general massage knowledge, there is no better way to learn than from the experience of others. Studying the profession individually and gaining knowledge from personal experience, also contributes to the Masseur's success. However, to truly be successful, I personally believe it is important for the Masseur to develop their intuition by practicing love, humility, honesty, open-mindedness and service on a regular basis. By employing these Principles, the Masseur is able to connect with the client so that his or her specific, individual needs may be met. A successful Masseur wants to be of maximum service to his client.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
I would advise that any aspiring Masseur checks their motivation. They should ask themselves, "Do I want to be a Masseur so that I can be of service to others, or am I in it for personal gain?"
A successful Masseur enjoys his job because he is able to use his skills to be helpful and make others happy. His success is not defined by how much money he makes but by how satisfied the client is upon completion of the session.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
Upon the conclusion of the experience, I hope to have met the unique expectations of each client, leaving them with a feeling of satisfaction. This satisfaction is the result of an experience that has allowed the client to feel comfortable and safe, yet has also enabled them to explore sensations that may have been alien to them.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I initially became a Masseur while studying at Michigan State University. While perusing Grindr one evening , I received a message from an "adult film actor" asking me if I was interested in coming to his hotel to hang out with him. He was traveling the country, following a premeditated route and offering his CMT services. As an "eager" freshman, I did not hesitate to accept his request and traveled to the nearby hotel. As a meek, young midwestern kid, I was initially intimidated by my encounter with the porn "Star" , but quickly warmed up. We became "acquainted" with one another and I returned to my dorm room with a feeling of satisfaction and over-confidence. It was no surprise that the next day I accepted his offer to join him in his travels as an exclusive model for his studio, while learning the ropes as a Masseur and gaining extensive experience in the trade. Within a day's time, my life veered off into an unexpected direction, and I left my studies behind to travel with my new acquaintance. Being a Masseur wasn't a dream of mine, but I recognized this as an opportunity to leave rural Michigan on a quest for something bigger. I became a Masseur while taking a leap of Faith.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Fortunately, my first client had requested a 4-handed massage. This allowed me to give the massage alongside my mentor. The hands on experience permitted me to observe various techniques and practice them simultaneously. I remember feeling anxiety and excitement that day. These feelings were followed by the realization that I had found my purpose, and I was excited to pursue this trade.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I would not classify being a Masseur as an addiction. It consumes a large portion of my life and does bring me joy, however I make a conscious effort to live a full, balanced life, so that I am able to provide the best services possible for my clients. I have discovered that obsessively working can detract from the amount of joy I receive from doing my work, and consequently the satisfaction that the client feels at the conclusion of the appointment. It was only after taking a respite from being a Masseur, to persue and develop other interests, that I was able to reflect back on my days as a Masseur and realize that it was a passion that I was not willing to abandon.. I began providing my services as a massage therapist while also working a job in a different field. This taught me how to allocate my time so that I could maintain balance and not burn out again. With this balance, exists a consistent feeling of joy and allows me to provide the best service possible.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I am only as successful as my client is satisfied, when leaving the appointment
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
As the massage appointment concludes, I like each client to feel as though they were provided with the best service possible. Such superb service is the direct result of my ability to address the clients individual needs, as well as exceed their expectations.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
Prior to the year 2013, I spent a large portion of my time traveling. At one point, I was flying to a different city every couple of days, to provide my services throughout the country. Although I still travel occasionally, I have recently taken the time to settle and build a life in Los Angeles. I plan to travel more in the future!
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Spending time with Family is my favorite way to pass time. I also enjoy trying new things and stepping outside of my comfort zone to explore new activities.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I tend to build lasting relationships with my clients, based on trust.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I am very grateful for the opportunity to meet each person that I come into contact with. I have learned so much from the vast assortment of personalities and look forward to making the acquaintance of the many individuals that have yet to cross my table .
