MarkReid's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I do remember yes. It was a disaster and yet, he’s still my client today. I was nervous I was clumsy I over thought everything, when really all I needed was to be myself, focused only on him. In a short time I learned what a body was telling me and where to go.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I absolutely do, yes. There never has been a client who said anything negative after we were finished our private session. Well, there was one client who did complain. He complained I did not serve him Pellegrino, instead I chose still water.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Honestly I just love time with my rescued pup. He's like having a child who, in his eyes, I am his world.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I became a Masseur by accident, literally by an accident. After a slip and fall during the winter in 2017, I tore the rotary cuffs in my shoulders just a week moving to Bucks County.
After a three day trial in massage therapy, I fell in love with it so I decided to get trained, certified and licensed to know in what style I would do best at. A few changes in an average salon style massage, I made my own personal techniques and follow the same recipe today.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Love what you do or find something else which makes you happy.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
No but keeping one’s awareness of other techniques are just as important. To me, extensive training simply means the person likes to talk a lot about themselves and how much they know. I take a backseat to ego, I prefer to perform.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Well, I don't miss my 38 years in food and beverage probably because I never was truly happy in that career. Now, I am happy because I do love what I do.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Light, with a more ease in their step and begin to notice things around them. Smell, I want senses to open just a bit and think to themselves “Holy ****, I feel good”.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I’m clumsy, I leave my ego in the next room. I don’t have nor use scented candles. There are no sounds of the rain forest in the background.
Me. You. Naked. Sensual. Erotic. Massage.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
Since 2017 till my arms and hands fall off
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
Travel? What’s that? I’ve lived in Philadelphia my whole life. Went to Florida once. Then California for a week a few years back. TaDa... my travels. Pathetic I know, but I guess it just wasn’t my luck to travel.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
Satisfied and relieved that they finally took a little time to treat themselves.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I want any potential client to know that I actually love what I do. I want them to know that I will adhere to any and all requests.
