Mathieu's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I remember my first client, he didn't talk much and was ready to began the moment I walked in. I was extremely nervous and a little chatting usually is my preference when first meeting someone, but I was there to do a job, a job that I love doing. Being able to be of service is what I love doing, and I do it well. When all was done, again not much was said. I felt that maybe I messed up some how, I received a very generous tip, and felt like maybe it was a " pitty tip". But I realized it was not in the next couple of months where the gentleman requested my services 2 or 3 times a week, and referred me to several people. Sounds like a dream first day, and it was now that I think about it. But it's funny that at first I was thinking that he thought it was a nightmare. And when it was later discussed he said he was just nervous too. But he enjoyed it very much. Thank you for allowing me to use that story and for being such a wonderful client. *Lee😘
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I would miss my Masseur days, I know for a fact. I had taken some time off while in school and when clients would call I would refer them out but then spend time just chatting with them. Made me miss being of service and being of help to clients.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I consider myself a successful masseur based on the satisfaction of my clients, not on how much it benefits my finances. So yes, I know that my clients are satisfied to the fullest. So I am successful, not to mention my finances are doing just as well.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
The thing that distinguishes me from other masseurs is my ability to communicate. I enjoy being a good verbal communicator so that all needs are met. I find it essential to be a skilled communicator with energy and with the body and its connection to the earth to better release the bad and rejuvenate the happy.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I love to travel with my puppy. To see new places or revisit one I have visited before. Just me and my puppy love to get in the car and drive wherever my services are needed. It is therapeutic for my dog and I to be on the road, the true feeling of being free spirited start on the highway.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I am a very non-judgemental, down to earth, empathetic guy. Spiritual, grounded, and well educated. I have a love for beutiful things and seek it within all people. I like to have faith that people are genuinely good people, no matter how many times I get let down. Because when good people happen to come around, I don't want to miss out on their company because of what others have done to me. Nameste
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I would like for someone that contacts me to feel like all needs were met, after massage and that I made an effort to understand what their needs were and did my best to meet them.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy hanging out with my dog, shopping, doing things that tend to my personal needs. Like going to a spa for an herbal wrap or going out to eat at a nice restaurant. I also enjoy trying new stuff, things I have never done before.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I became a masseur to be of service. I enjoy being able to be of service and being able help others. I enjoy connecting with people and being able to travel
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Make sure it is your passion. No matter what you choose to do in life it should be your passion and not just a job. Because your clients can totally feel when you are just doing your job, and that becomes a disservice to them as well as yourself.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have 2 years of masseur experience and I defiantly see me continuing for as long as possible. Helping others helps myself so .....
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Not necessarily but training to become better is always a good thing. Their is always room for improvement.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I like them to feel like I provided a great service by listening well to best address their needs. And that I was able to communicate well during the arranging of appointments to accommodate their schedules to the best of my ability. And like they have a new friend.
