MichaelDeCrow's Massage Interview
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes, I absolutely do! I see it as a success because I love doing it and so I’m being allowed to follow my bliss. I get to do something I love full-time and it is being well received by those I work with which allows me to do more of it. I would judge it as successful if I were able to help affect positive change in even a single person’s life. Based upon the feedback that I’ve received over the years from the amazing men I’ve worked with, I’ve far exceed that number. Success to me is being able to do what brings you joy. This work fills me with that joy and empowers me to keep going to help other men experience joy in their lives, even if only for the short time that we’re together. I know that being held in a loving, supportive space for that time that it will radiate out in amazing ways in their lives. That’s definitely success from that perspective.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I’ve been doing this amazing work for almost 9 years now and I just can’t imagine stopping. Over the years my offerings have expanded and that has enabled me to offer even more types of experiences. As I learn through experience or from the wide range of classes that I attend, I am able to deepen my practice and be able to help even more men in new and exciting ways. As long as I’m able to keep growing and learning, I plan to continue doing this work full-time. It’s sometimes challenging but always enjoyable, rewarding and full of growth opportunities for me and my clients.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
We are all unique and amazing in our own right but I believe that what makes my services different from the masses is the wide range of experiences that I offer. I bring all of the areas that I study in my personal life into my practice to create sessions that are more than just a simple rub-and-tug. I’ve committed my life to be of service therefore my sessions are all about the client. Many guys doing this work are doing it to fulfill their own ***ual needs and so the sessions really are about them being worshiped or satisfied in some way. I offer bodywork sessions that are actually about having the clients whole physical body being attended to therapeutically but that also include layer upon layer of eroticism and pleasure so that their emotional and ***ual needs are fulfilled as well. I’m also a bit older than most guys doing this work and so I can work with my clients through embodied life experiences that the younger guys haven’t had yet. As is true for all of us; my training, experience, look, offerings, wisdom and approach are what set me apart but I know that for those who are seeking something unique, that I’m the man they’re looking for.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I want them to feel that they were seen and heard and that their needs were attended to. The world can be a harsh place full of takers and our lives can be stressful and draining because of it. I want my clients to know that their needs are being heard and their privacy respected. I want them to leave feeling better than when they arrived and feeling that the time and energy they invested in our time together was worthwhile. I want them to feel good about it mentally, emotionally, physically and even spiritually. I want them to feel energized, renewed and refreshed so that they can attend to all aspects of their lives from that place of empowerment.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I originally started my practice because I loved giving and receiving touch. I know the power that receiving healing touch has had in my life and I wanted to be able to share with others. When I left my previous career in data processing, I took a long hard look at all of the skills that I had, all of the things in life which bring me joy, all of my needs and all that I had to offer and started doing this work because it felt right and was the best way for me to share my life with the world. I wanted to be able to help others on a personal level rather than contribute to a corporation’s bottom line. Almost 9 years later I see that it was the exact right decision because it is what I am truly meant to do. I’ve had it confirmed over and over and know that it is part of my life’s purpose. To be blessed enough to be able to follow my passion in life and to be supported by that in return is a rare and amazing gift. I’m honored to be doing this work and know that it was meant to be.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
While it isn’t particularly ***y, I love watching TV shows like “Brain Games”, “The Universe”, “Ancient Aliens” and “America Unearthed”. I love all things relating to science, physics and the mysteries of life. These shows are full of scientific data and so I’m always learning something while I’m being entertained. I know that what is true for the Universe (the macrocosm) is also true for us individually (the microcosm). By applying the info I gather on Quantum Physics and energy dynamics to the healing work I do, I’m able to affect change at levels beyond just what a standard LMP style massage can do. Essentially I operate on multiple levels at once during my sessions. I’m listening to the client (their sounds, body movements, words and non-verbal communications) and letting that guide me in what I do and where I do it. When I apply the knowledge I hold to the situation they present, amazing things can happen both during the session and in the days following as their body comes into alignment with the work I’ve done on the energy level. Even in my spare time I like to do things that help me grow as a person and can help me be a better practitioner.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
It all depends upon your definition of successful I suppose. I see some guys who say they are “new to the business” who charge (and I assume receive) 250-300 an hour. Being able to command a rate like that is usually based on youth, muscles and appearance and has little to do with experience. I rate my own level of success on several factors: repeat clients, word of mouth referrals, positive client feedback and volume of work. After doing this work for 10 years I’ve built a strong body of experience, created a solid client base and a sterling reputation. The knowledge that I’ve learned through countless sessions over the years has allowed me to grow my practice, refine my skills and enabled me to create and offer a work studio and experiences unlike any others in the area. Much of this is due to experience but it has more to do with the wisdom gained through the experiences.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Before I started working as a Sacred Intimate, I was looking to change careers and find something that I truly enjoyed doing. One day I was looking at Craigslist and noticed how many straight guys were posting ads looking for their first male/male experience. They were asking for massages or mild experiences where there was not pressure put them to do anything to the other guy but rather just receive. Since I didn’t have a lot going on, I decided to post an ad myself and offer such a service. I had a massage table and the whole setup so I knew I could just pop the table up in my spare room and be good to go. Since I was offering these sessions on a “pay what you can afford” basis and because I was just going to do it for fun, I thought I could be selective about who I would work on. I figured I’d get one or two hot little experiences to fill the time while I decided what I wanted to do for my next career.
This story is longer than I can fit here so I had to create a page on my website for the whole story. Visit MaleEroticEvolution.com/stories for the rest of it. I hope you enjoy it. It has a very happy ending.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
Travel is a passion for me. I love doing it and have traveled to many fun places in my life: India, Spain, France, Italy, England, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Canada, The Netherlands and Germany, plus heaps of places within the good old U.S. of A. The travel I have done has definitely changed me and given me a broader perspective on life and especially on how the rest of the world see us in America. As for work, about the only traveling I do is down to Portland occasionally. Ideally I’d love to be able to travel around the globe bringing pleasure with me but it’s just not in the cards for me right now. I’ve spent a lot of time, money and effort making my amazing work studio and know that I offer the very best and more fulfilling experience there where I have all my gear, tools and equipment.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
The best advice I could give them would be to really be sure that it is a passion and that they have a good sense of touch. So many guys think they'll just toss up a massage table and make a go of it. Without a good sense of touch, it's just going to feel uncomfortable for the client. If you understand the power of touch and the ability to follow your intuition, the experience can be powerful for all involved. You don't need years of schooling for loving, erotic touch (it helps of course but isn't required) like you do to be an LMP. Without an innate sense of sensual, erotic touch, the experience will be sub-par and the eroticism lost. Being a masseur can be both rewarding and challenging but if you have a passion for it, the only limiting factor is yourself.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
The main thing my clients will learn about me is that I practice what I preach. I go and get regular massage and bodywork because it keeps my body healthy. I also know that for therapists, getting work done is when you learn the most. Being on the table gives us a chance to remember how healing it is just to have someone focused on you and helping you achieve your goals. I want to help you and your body feel as active and alive as mine does.
