Myhandscan's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
My very first client was a Massuer that had worked on me many times after I had hip replacement surgery. I had been taking down notes and watching his movement and the different styles that he used on me, which always helped. It was a 60 minute session and he was overwhelmed by the end of the session. He said that he had never felt so relaxed. To be receiving praise from someone I had admired, what such a great thrill. I knew I had found my passion.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I wouldn’t say it’s an addictive activity. It’s more of a passionate activity. It’s something that give me positive energy and thoughts and a healthy lifestyle.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I do feel successful. I’m doing something that I’m passionate about something that I love doing, and something that rewards me financially. What more could you ask for?
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I grew up in the Midwest and was involved in sports all my life. I moved to Los Angeles shortly after I graduated from college and spent 35 years there in the entertainment industry. I semi retired and moved to the Palm Springs area where I acquired my certification as a Spinning Instructor and personal trainer. I had a total right hip replacement in 2015. Unfortunately, The surgeon I chose performed the wrong surgery and I have never been able to Instructor spinning since then.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I want them to leave feeling relaxed and at peace with themselves and rejuvenated and ready to take on the journey of life that awaits them.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
My number one activity is spending quality time with my dog. I also really enjoy working out and swimming, and indoor cycling. I also love barbecuing with friends.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I became a Massuer because of my background in sports and knowing the body’s muscular and nerve structures. I have a God given ability to find stress and toxins that build up and I am able to release the bad stuff and get the good stuff going.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Make sure you are passionate about it. Don’t do it for the money. Don’t do it to please anyone else but yourself. And study. Study the human body. Study the human mind and most of all study the human heart.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
My smile

I have been working as a Massuer for about three years now. I am not sure how much longer I will pursue this experience, but I give it %100 as long as I can.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I don’t travel often. I do it if it’s required. Otherwise I prefer to host.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I wouldn’t say extensive training is necessary but practicing a craft always helps.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I want to leave wanted more. I love my clients and enjoy working with them.
