PhillyFrank's Massage Interview
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
When I'm not a masseur, Im a freelance graphic designer. I work with a bunch of different clients and businesses in the philadelphia area and had the awesome opportunity to install a mural at the newest queer bar in the heart of the Philadelphia gayborhood. Basically, what I'm saying is Im good with my hands. lol.
Why did you become a Masseur?
A buddy of mine turned me onto massage. It started with an appreciation of getting a massage and that sprouted into a wonder and eagerness to know more. Finding trouble areas on the body and working them out to keep carrying on as a functioning human...thats always good. Im just happy to be of service.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
People are more afraid of you than you are of them. DON'T BE NERVOUS! Every client I have seen, genuinely wants to have some kind of connection with the person they are putting in charge of their body for 60+ minutes. So as long as you know your stuff and can carry a bit of conversation, you'll be great!
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I would say its about 20% travel and 80% homebody. I have an entire room dedicated to the massage studio/sometimes the at home gym. I usually only travel with longer sessions with clients who specifically schedules ahead of time.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have been a masseur for the last 3 years. Started with a slight interest and now we're here. Time flys. Im going to continue being a masseur for as long as I find enjoyment from it. I love connecting with people and helping relieve some of life's pressures, even if its only for a little while. So as long as I stay excited about that, I'll be here ;)
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
My first client was great! Very respectful and willing to take our time. I definitely started to find a flow as we went along, but I also realize every client is different so I tend to tailor each session to each individual client.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Ive taken a few breaks from massage, but I clearly always come back...so thats my answer.
