PiscesLoveNYC's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I was very nervous on the way to the persons house. We had talked a lot before so expectations were very clear. We did the Tarot reading and the outcome of the cards was beautiful, not 100% positive but definitely hopeful. Thru the massage we were able to process some energies. I felt very humbled to be a positive part of the journey.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes I do. If we don't have confidence if ourselves then how can we make the client feel at ease when under our hands. That being said there is much much room for growth and I'm excited and ready for it!
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I do feel immensely fulfilled by helping people and giving them a unique experience. I would miss that the most if I couldn't do massage anymore.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I think I would want people to know that it's not about appearance. Sure an attractive man is cute but what happens when you get bored of looking at them, you move on. A connection is more important than anything. If we have a connection then perfection. If we don't - that's okay to. I hope you find that with someone else, because you are worth it and you are not alone.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I knit. I also own a theatre company so a lot of my time is spent working on some of our many many projects, both in front and behind the scenes. I love spending time with friends, and having deep conversations about love, adventures & growth.
Why did you become a Masseur?
The evolution went from dancing, to teaching yoga, too getting into Tarot, to dabbling in energy healing and Tantra. And then one day my friend was like you should do body work and I was like - don't you need a license? and . . . well the rest is history. It's very nice to able to utilize bits of my journey for this type of work.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
What's stopping you from doing it? Assess the fear and move from there. If it feels right to start taking clients post identifying the blockage then, great! If it does not, then at least you'll have confidence in your answer.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
The fact that I offer Tarot before or after the massage. I also would say my empathy.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I'm always going somewhere. If it's not for the Theatre Company then it's for play or other work!
I'll make sure to keep updating my travel dates. It might mean that we're meeting up at a random time but I'll be there if I can make it work!
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
No. Very helpful tho. I've had 22 years of training in related fields and do plan on getting certified once I can afford it.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I hope my clients feel fulfilled. I hope they leave feeling joy from a unique experience. I hope they feel like they've been tended too and loved.
