RedCMT's Massage Interview
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I enjoy connecting with people on a deeper level, healing, & making them feel special. I will keep doing this for a while.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I am well traveled & educated as well as open minded. Also I respect boundaries & expect you to respect mine.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Like they enjoyed the experience & it was worth the time & money.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I travel as often as possible. I want to spend my life travelling the world teaching language and learning about new cultures.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
My red hair & strong muscles as well as getting certified from an 18 month program in California.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Yes, massage is a healing art that requires knowledge of anatomy & transfer of energy. That is why I invested time & money into proper education.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Surfing, travelling, entrepreneurship, urban cycling, weightlifting, mycology, environmentalism, land conservation, & linguistics.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I am still learning the healing arts & how to balance business & personal life. One day I will be successful if I keep working at it.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Yes I was visiting Las Vegas & was so nervous for my first client. He was bi & a nudist so we had a great discourse about sensuality & openness. I realized that everyone wants to be comfortable & accepted for who they are, so I always try to make my clients feel that way. We are friends to this day.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I was a personal trainer for several years & I enjoyed it. My clients complained of soreness after I beat them up in the gym, so I decided to learn healing massage techniques to keep them going. They were more comfortable seeing me for bodywork because they already knew me. I then joined a prestigious massage & energy work school to educate myself in the healing arts. Now my goal is to become a master healer & bodyworker so that I can really help people.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Find your motivation & get your education in massage techniques. You can cause harm if you do not know what you're doing, especially with deep tissue & energy work.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have been doing bodywork since 2017 & graduated massage school in 2019. I plan to continue learning & healing for the rest of my life.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I want clients to leave feeling relaxed & looser than when they came in. If you are not smiling after then I did not do my job right.
