Rexbi's Massage Interview
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
In complete honesty, it is not the act of giving a massage that I find addictive. I am a pleasure giver overall. Things that make me truly happy in this world are things that I am able to do to make some happy and relaxed. In this new age of technology and everyone always in a rush, that 60 or 90 minutes I get to release that pressure on someones muscles and see them have a greater range of motion from when they came in, that is the addiction high I get from being a Masseur.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
Every Masseur is different. Techniquues, strength, hand size, even just their personality. It is difficult to really say what distinguishes me overall, other than my looks. I am most definitely not a muscle guy, or extremely fit. I believe my more average Joe type of look brings guys a comfort that they would not get from the muscle guys, because I look more like them.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I am genuine.
Seriously, in this world being honest with ones self is rare enough let alone honesty to others. I am exactly what you see and provide exactly what I say. My conversations with clients while I massage them are kept in confidence and sharing that connection with someone to really help them fully relax. Being honest and genuine, it is a crazy conept it fills like sometimes, but it definitely helps us connect better.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
Relaxed and mobile.
Mobile being increased range of motion and a almost extra bounce in their step from releasing that unneeded stress in their muscles.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
7 years. Not including time off during COVID. I have no idea how long I will do this, but there is no end I am able to see yet.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I travel when I am able to. Not really a homebody, but I am definitely not a world traveler either. I strike that good balance between the two.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Training, training, training.
This is not a ok I got my license and am an expert. Like most things with any career, you have to keep training and learning and trying new things. There is alot of styles and techniques in massage therapy, definitely best to stay on the new trends and new therapies.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
It does not have to be extensive, but continually.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Relaxed and comfortable.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I like to think I am successful in providing what most off my clients are looking for, so they will return to me for their next massage.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I have always believed more in homeopathic medicine. Nothing against modern advances in medicine, none at all. However, the planet has a lot to give us and we alot to give to it. There is far more effective ways of healing certain ailments than just popping a pill or injecting chemicals into the body. The body will self heal if you allow it to and massage just helps to speed up the process.
