RodolfoZen's Massage Interview
Why did you become a Masseur?
I worked in a bar that was located right next to a spa in Puerto Vallarta Mexico, I became friends with a masseur who motivated me to start doing massages, somehow he saw potential in me, he invited me to see the space where he worked and from that moment I connected with the whole environment, the relaxing music, the patients who visited the place as clients, being a gay tourist port, I was delighted. The following week I started my training and on my first day of work I did 8 massages, the Atlantis cruise ship had just arrived in Puerto Vallarta, I treated very nice people and from that day to date more than 5 years have passed and I'm still delighted to do what I like.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I was a little nervous on my first day working in a spa as a masseur, however it was enough for me to meet who would be my first client to leave my nerves behind, just 10 minutes after starting my day a person entered the spa and asked for a massage with me. the guy was pretty stinky and very gentle, he knew it was my first day and he made me feel so comfortable, when i saw his naked body on the massage table in front of me, my hands started flowing in a way that wrapped his body between the heat and oil, inch by inch I covered his entire body. At the end of the massage he hugged me and told me that he had loved it. I was happy to know that he was completely satisfied and I was even more so.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I do think it's very addictive, I keep myself available all the time that when I take a day off it's hard to resist one more appointment.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Of course, I do what I like the most and I really enjoy doing it.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I like that they feel very comfortable before, during and after the massage, I like to create relationships based on trust and I appreciate that they always share their opinion with me.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Training is very important, of course it is and understanding that day by day i can always learn something new.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I am more a homebody but i like to travel also i am very open for the experience.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
5 years experience and still loving what i do, i don’t think that much about when i’ll stop.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I give my best in each massage, I really enjoy the intimacy that surrounds each session.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I really appreciate their confidence, I like to connect with them as a friend, I do my best every time, each massage and I would like they feel just like that they are receiving the best of me.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
my routine in a day off is very exiting, I wake up early, I like to cook my breakfast and then I study languages, English and French, but I do this every day, is part of my routine, when I have spare time I like to go the gym, I like to practice yoga, go to the beach and have some sun, a time for a walk is always very good, I like to get lost in the nature and at the end of the day I love to watch a movie at home or go to movie with friends.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
just one thing, enjoy what you do because to be a masseur it is a very good opportunity to meet nice people and you will be surprised how you can connect with them, you can make good friends. and that's the best.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
i am sure my personality is what will always distinguish me from the rest, even with only six years of experience I can't compare myself with any other talented masseur since each one has their own style, however my talent it is also unique.
