SeanKelly's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Originally, i decided to do sensual massage because i needed to pay off my massage school loan. It took me a long time to overcome the "business Ethics" of acceptable therapies. Slowly, over time, i realized that it was more than just ok to enjoy the ***ual charge that comes up in sessions. That as long as there is agreement between the therapist and client that this thing that is lacking in our culture needs a healthy outlet. When i think back on who i represented myself to be when i first started out, i feel like i could have been more of a regular human with my clients rather than a therapist with artificial boundaries.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I suppose that depends on the definition of addiction, and one's relationship to addiction in general. Even though its kind of obviously codependent, like all relationships, i want to resist the fun answer of saying, "oh, yeah its addictive, and that's why i'm still doing it." I'm into developing a culture which strives towards civilization. And that entails certain sociological norms that do not exist in our culture today. Like, it would be great to have a culture that didn't want to label everything it doesn't understand just to help people feel safe in their little bubble of ignorance. But anyway, yes, if i had all the money i wanted, to do the big projects i want to do, then i would still invite people into my home for sensual playtime and healing touch. Because it fulfills me in a deep way that other relationships do not.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes, I am very good at both therapeutic massage and sensual/erotic play. But i'm terrible at running any kind of business, even a one man show. I **** at creating a marketing presence, and at all kinds of paperwork. In fact simply being a Masseur is one of the few things i consider myself really good at. But being a sensual masseur is something i excel at.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I am a proud sloppy deep throat face **** ***. My *** is always food grade edible. I'm HIV negative.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Good question. I guess i want people to feel like they've been seen for who they are, respected, nurtured, cared for, ...and that there are only feelings of positive lightness. That what they've experienced with me was fulfilling and positive and healthy and good in all ways.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to study and research and write. Currently i'm delving back into the relationship between particle and field physics to try and bridge the gap between the two. Like, if its all just field theory, and inertia, electromagnetism, and the ether can explain everything then what about chemistry?
But unfortunately, i don't know any of the math and i can't afford to do the experiments i want to do, so i'm limited in how deep i can go with it all. But it might one day make good fodder for sci-fi.
Why did you become a Masseur?
Because i really like to touch people. And because i like to be ***y.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Start by going to massage school. Almost any school will do. It's up to you to go as deep into the study of A&P as you can. But i would say get the basics of AOIN, learn whats going on below the skin. Even clean and skin a couple of mammals at some point after you learn the muscles. Because all mammal muscle structure is pretty much the same.
And then attend as many workshops as you can afford for all the other fun practices and modalities out there. And practice on as many people as you can get your hands on.
Lastly, Do a bunch of free sessions, and trade with lots of experienced therapists and students alike. Pay attention to, and ask for, feedback. By doing regular trade sessions (like every week, where you're each giving and receiving every other week)with the same person for a bunch of sessions you will learn a lot about how what you do feels to other people. eventually you will be able to feel what your touch feels like to other people.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I don't know. Perhaps nothing.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
Since 2008, So almost 11 years.
For the rest of my life, i hope.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I'm definitely more of a homebody type.
I'd like to travel more, i have met some great people in Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh and Greenville.
But, my default is to be where i'm comfortable and do one or two sessions a day rather than piling on a bunch of sessions in the shortest possible time. Other friends of mine are much better at the traveling thing. We'll see.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
What does "extensive" mean? Training, Absolutely, Yes.
And Reading/Studying.
You have to be able to feel not just the muscles and bones, but the difference between muscle and tendon and trigger point, and even to feel the conductivity of fascia. Fascia is what moves first before the muscle finds its new resting position. Once we die its just Saran Wrap, but while we're living it conducts electricity around the body, this is the basic functional structure of the Meridian System. And this is just one bit of all the magic of the most complicated structure that we know of in the universe, the human body.
Its one of the coolest things there is to learn about, in my opinion.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
This is kind of the same as another question above. But OK.
Attended to, respected, honored, nourished, cared for, Safe.
When you leave after seeing me i hope to linger in your mind and body as harmonious and joyful tone.
Like you've been tuned back towards balance and harmony.
Like you've just seen an old lover who you still have that special connection with.
