SonnyGuy's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I remember my first client. He requested a full body massage and I was nervous. At the end of it, he thanked me for the pain relief & extra range of motion. It made me feel great.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I would definitely miss being a masseur. This career is my life and my sense of fulfilment. I really enjoy helping with deep tissue issues & relaxation.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I have a great professional relationship with my clients over several years. Positive client feedback is my yardstick of success.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I am a good listener. That means you can tell me what you want in a massage service and I will deliver.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I would like every one of my clients to feel that I have gone above and beyond their expectations of a great massage.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
My hobbies centre around keeping fit and active. I walk an average 20km a day and jog a couple of evenings a week around the Harbour. I also play tennis once a week.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I decided a few years ago that I should help others as a way of giving back. Massage is a great way to do that, and get a warm fuzzy feeling from improving clients lives.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Massage is hard work, and it’s easy to get burnt out. I would say don’t do it unless you have a real driving passion, and use correct techniques to reduce injuries.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
My unique selling proposition is bespoke service. I listen to clients tell me what they want in a massage, and I deliver.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I’ve been a masseur for five years, I see myself continuing while I still enjoy it. Hopefully for many years.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I travel on holidays occasionally. However, I prefer to be in Sydney on a day off.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Training is required to the level of expertise. For relaxation and erotic massage, experience with a range of clients is more important.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I like clients to feel relieved, excited or surprised when they leave. It means I’ve exceeded their expectations!
