TantraPirat's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I truly cannot because it was quite some time ago in my 20's. I wasn't very skilled, but I was kind of cute so I probably got away with some pretty weak experiences. But I do remember a sense of exhilaration!
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I am a knowledgeable tantra practitioner and am honing my massage skills every day. I can say with confidence my clients have thoroughly enjoyed their experiences.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Yoga and being a beach bum. I teach men's naked restorative yoga as my primary gig, but I take every opportunity to share other instructors' classes. I also love to cook, mostly Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Asian. I travel at every opportunity and I do transportation for a local dog rescue almost every week, sometimes three or four trips in a week when the pups need us.
Music touches some places deep in my heart and soul. Truth be told I enjoy spending some "me time" edging, masturbating and expanding my horizons. Tantric studies and training have allowed me to enjoy new and unexpected levels of pleasure. The experience often feels very much out of body. Finding this orgasmic consciousness is the most worthwhile of self indulgence!
Why did you become a Masseur?
I am an incredibly tactile person. I love touch and the sensation of my hands (and other parts) on skin. I enjoy touching mens' bodies and the movement, flexion, and stretching of my body in service to theirsis therapeutic for me in a physical and mental way.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Yes, absolutely. It's rewarding and exhilarating. There's a sense of excitement when I wake up knowing I'll have the chance to share touch that day.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
This is my seventh career, number six being yoga instructor. I have a very straight laced white-collar job history that might seem completely incongruous to the pursuit of massage, but this chapter may be the most authentic expression of my real self. I do this because I want to. Now that I'm retired and don't need to work, I get to choose how I spend my time.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Somewhere between rejuvenated and elated. Much of what I do can touch deep and forgotten spaces. It isn't unusual for a client to experience a wide range of emotions because I encourage them to let go of shame, fear, and self doubt.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
You must love being close to people and must be able to let go of your hang ups about other's bodies. Accept people where they are and encourage them to celebrate themselves.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
Vast ranging life experiences. I have been trained in several helping professions and have a little bit of bartender, confessor, head-shrinker, and counselor mixed in with these strong, sensitive hands and formal tantric training.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
Not long professionally, but many decades as an aficionado of sharing touch. I learned in college that if you rub a guy's shoulders the right way when he's tired from studying, you stand a good chance at getting his pants off.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
As often as I can. I flew a dozen times last year and will be traveling several times this summer I've been to about half of EU and UK. Given the resources I'd go away for at least a long weekend every month and take three or more vacations annually. My bucket list of places to explore is worldwide and varied and will probably never be completely fulfilled, but it's nice to dream.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
It may very likely be, but while skills can be taught, talent is inherent. I take at least a weeks worth of in-person Tantra study and practice each year. I've recently taken an intensive Thai massage private training from a nationally known practitioner.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
More than anything, happy that they've had a valuable, meaningful, and memorable experience. And that they're saving my number.
