ThaiYogaBodywork's Massage Interview
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I’ve spent a lot of time traveling and ideally would like to be splitting my time between homes. I love to travel the world and visit new places. I love spending a lot of time in each place, and getting to know the people and culture. I was most recently in Tulum teaching yoga on the beach when quarantine hit.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I’m so grateful for my practice that can offer healing to so many people. I feel extremely successful in that I’ve come a long way in developing my practice, helping hundreds of people feel more comfortable and relaxed in their bodies, and been supported 100% by my massage offerings. AND, there is also always so much more to learn and room to grow! My goal is to expand my offerings to reach more people. Teaching my techniques to others has been one of those ways...
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
That they come without expectations and leave having received beyond what they could have expected! Relaxed, open, pain-free, comfortable in their body, and feeling so much self-love and totally cared for.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Some training, with lots of experience. No one needs to be able to locate all the muscles, but it takes time and touching a lot of bodies to learn how to touch and feel... Massage is more about deep listening than technique, which is a philosophy I have learned from my teachers.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I love receiving touch that opens up my body. I’ve had life changing bodywork before. It’s so delicious and healing. I wanted to be able to offer what I enjoy receiving so much. It’s something I kept coming back to.
My practice is a weaving of different philosophies and learnings that I believe can really help people to feel better in their bodies.
