TriBruno's Massage Interview
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
It’s interesting….I originally said that I would do this until I was able to get typical employment upon returning to Toronto. Upon being successful and landing the career of choice, I found myself missing clients. Upon going back to school, being a Masseur has allowed me flexibility for studies and to earn an income with coursework and training.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
Yes.
Training can come in many ways-academic, life, experiential through application and others. It is important that those performing the massage understand the individuals needs and requests, has the ability to navigate throughout the massage based on the body’s reaction to touch, pressure and clients goals/comfort.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Its the look for relaxation, exhaustion combined with a sense of bliss with the look of bewilderment as seen through the lack of tension & stress on/in their face and shoulders flowing throughout their body, expressing ‘did this really happen’ as they slowly re-gain their senses ready to face the world they left behind, with a sense of balance, serenity and centeredness.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
As we all know, there is something incredibly erotic about male on male body contact, which is part of the trifecta that sets me apart. As a professional trained in massage technique, receiving many treatments myself m through my own personal athletic career and having a passion for exploration of the male body-its this combination of academic / training, practical experience, personal interest that allows me to have developed a unique yet very satisfying massage style.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I do and we have actually become good friends both on the table of off!
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Success is always a relative measurement; do I consider myself fortunate to have met many great people throughout my time, absolutely. I am very fortunate and thankful that have many if not most people that I see, return time and time again as the passion, understanding and ability to capture their needs each massage allows for this continued success.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Well, as my name would suggest, I am very devoted to Ironman Triathlons. Love running, swimming and cycling coupled with traveling and exploring the world; I seem to have found a very niche happy place!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Always be open to feedback and never stop learning, growing or developing. When you think you have made it, there is always something else to improve upon! Never back down from the unknown and a challenge/challenging client.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I am a bit of a lost soul one would say, easily convinced to pick up and travel/go with the flow, yet equally happy to stay at home for a few days by myself. Not sure if that answers the question, but it is how I feel at this present time!
Why did you become a Masseur?
I became a masseur out of necessity when I relocated back from Europe to Toronto after living abroad for 5 years. I did gain employment and left the profession, but I found myself missing it and since I have recently returned to doing it. Ultimately, I find the art of massage, especially male-to-male incredibly erotic yet practical and very purpose driven. In today's society, we lack the art or element of the human touch-more so now than ever. In providing this, it brings a great sense of purpose and pleasure to my life and profession, which keeps me providing such a service, allowing me to pursue other academic and personal goals.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
Relieved, a sense of peace/calmness and curiosity as what our next time together will be like. Once people meet and see my space, they are captivated by the options, ideas and opportunities to explore themselves and with others that it ignites the creative / ***ual realm of possibilities that leaves them with more questions then answers.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
Interesting. It happens to be the feedback more so than not, is that people always find me interesting...to talk to, to get to know, to listen to hear my opinion and mostly to grow alongside with.
I am highly educated with 2 masters' degrees; traveled extensively throughout the world and have a thirst for knowledge as well as an interest for current and political events. As you will experience, I am happy to focus and massage in the peaceful solitude my place provides or have a conversation on a variety of topics.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I have been in the industry on and off for 8 years now. I am happy to continue yet always open and looking for new adventures!
