Wayneoh's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
It was quite a long time ago, I don't specifically recall the details but the session "clicked" immediately with he and myself, so I knew from then on that being a masseur was my calling and my passion for continuing with bodywork has grown ever since!
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I would! In fact, I don't look forward to the day when I can no longer do massage. But until then, it remains an undying passion!
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Yes, in every respect. I have seen the results of my work time and again and that energizes my passion for keeping on...
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
The most vitally important things I would like of my first-time clients to know is that I am very down-to-earth, I listen carefully to my client's needs and I am am very comfortable to be around. Importantly as well, I am non-judgemental, every ethnicity, body shape and size gets treated equally and with respect.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Simply put, refreshed, rejuvenated and feeling "like new" in every respect.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I especially enjoy walks with my dog. Being out in nature and quiet times lets me recharge. Gardening and self-improvement also top that list.
Why did you become a Masseur?
A great question! After my very first ever personal experience of getting a massage, I knew it was something I had to do. It was, beyond any doubt, the most life changing experience I'd ever had and I knew from then on I wanted to pass that on to others.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
My first bit of advice would be to tell them that is if you come to view it purely as work or a job, then it is time to move on and re-search for your true passion. Secondly, if you discover it does become your passion, you will never see it as work again another day in your life!
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
Personally, I have been told from many clients that my technique differs in that I go at a much more focused, slower rhythmic pace leading to deeper relaxation which thereby effectuates more effective tension and stress relief.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
Actually, from the early nineties after experiencing my very first massage, I got plenty of practice doing it for friends decided thereafter to attend a school where I could be professionally trained and become licensed. And so long as I am able to continue doing massage, I will never stop!
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
If I travel twice a year now, it's a lot. I'm happy to have become a homebody because I so enjoy doing bodywork at my studio here.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I felt the importance of extensive professional training is crucial so the novice bodyworker becomes intuitive. It's important to know how all the systems of the body basically work in order to garner an overall understanding of its complexity wherein bodywork therapy may be effective.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
Changed! If they somehow feel better after the session, then my goal has been achieved!
