YogaGuy's Massage Interview
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I’m a yoga & meditation teacher and I think my job is essentially to help people feel better about themselves in the bodies they inhabit right now. A massage experience can be part of that and promotes healing & relaxation.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I have a gentle, quiet, and sensitive personality. I’m introverted, and sometimes a bit shy. But I’ve been told that I’m also charming and good at making people feel at ease!
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I hope that they feel relaxed, and more at home in their body. Becoming more embodied and present with ourselves is key to living our best life possible.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
My favourite hobby is probably baking. I love baking desserts, pies, cookies, and sometimes cakes, loaves, and bread (and then giving these away to people - a homemade pie or plate of cookies always seems to cheer people up).
I like reading, I like watching movies (I miss going to the cinema), I like documentaries and learning about things.
I practice yoga & meditation and I enjoy cycling, walking, and travelling (even if it’s just to another neighborhood in the city).
Why did you become a Masseur?
Honestly I’m doing it to help support myself while I’m doing my 300 Hour advanced Yoga Teacher Training (I’ve completed 2 separate 200 Hour TT’s during the pandemic. I had to pivot after being laid off from both my jobs during the March 2020 lockdowns).
But I also enjoy meeting new people and helping make people feel good about themselves.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I used to travel quite a bit before Covid. I really love trains, especially long distance train rides (I have done both the Toronto to Vancouver and Montreal to Halifax train rides). Travelling and adventure is a wonderful experience and can really broaden your mind.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I hope that they feel happy and relaxed and more at ease afterwards. Having a nice massage is a wonderful act of self care and self love.
