edwardleone's Massage Interview
Why did you become a Masseur?
The main reason was for the money. With the number of years that I have been practicing its a combination of the very personal connection that is developed with the art of touch and the money is the reward for pleasing the person on the table.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
Its been a long time since my first client, I do know I was nervous. I was doing out calls at that time and had to go to a motel. It all ended up ok and I got over the fear of the unknown. Honestly it was a bit of an adrenalin rush too.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I want my clients to feel comfortable, relaxed, assured that their time on my table is between us, no one would ever know you were here and to be satisfied enough to come back time and time again.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I think training is an essential part of being a Masseur, you don't want to hurt someone not knowing the anatomy of the body. I think of myself as continually learning from watch massage videos, reading and practicing my craft. Although I was trained many years ago I never took the exam to become licensed. I believe my experience has made we good at what I do.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
My clients should feel relaxed and ready to take on what ever lies ahead of them until the next time we meet. I like my clients to leave with their stress level to be as non existent as possible when they get off the table. I would hope they are comfortable and relaxed enough to com back again and again. A client should also trust their Masseur to tell them what they liked and didn't like about their massage so the Masseur can adjust their technique as best as they can to meet the needs of their client within reason of course Both the Masseur and client must be comfortable for the best result.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I consider myself a success when my clients feel great when the massage is over, and they come back for more.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I agree it can become addictive. Yes, I have missed when I have taken a hiatus from practicing massage therapy. I guess that's why I continue today.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I don't travel very often. I prefer to be home.
