Kajundude's Massage Interview
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I absolutely would miss my Masseur days. I take great pleasure in making sure my clients are comfortable, relaxed, and de-stressed.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Upon completion of the massage I would love for my clients to be relaxed, de-stressed, and satisfied with the service.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Go for it! Whether you want to work for a spa, work for yourself, or just have it as a skill for your personal relationships, it is a great skill to have.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy a few things. I love to cook, being a kajun, I truly enjoy cooking dishes that require spice. Jambalaya, ***** rice, gumbo, crawfish bisque, etouffee, etc. I also enjoy video games, photography, and reading.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I would say be prepared to continuously learn. From continuing education credits to learning tips and tricks for improving your technique, you will constantly learn in this profession.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I've been a Masseur about a year, not counting school. I would love to continue as a Masseur as long as my hands and body allows.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
Relaxed, de-stressed, and not just satisfied but so satisfied that they feel they need to talk about the experience with someone else. Who knows maybe that someone else will become a client as well.
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I travel maybe 2 times a year currently. I plan to increase that over the next few years. I love traveling, being somewhere new is exciting to me in many ways.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I come with my life experience underneath the massage training. All of this works together to create unique experiences tailored to each clients needs and wants. This is what distinguishes me.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I believe in the healing power of the hands and touch. Ever since I was a teen I have wanted to massage. It started with my MOMO. She was a hardworking woman and always complained of aching , sore muscles and pain. I would try massaging her shoulders and even though I did not have the skill and strength, just the loving touch was enough for her to relax and say that feels good. I want all of my clients to experience that.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
No matter what I want my clients to know that when in my space and presence, it is a judgement free safe space. If you want to cry on the table, do so, I'll probably cry with you. If you are insecure about your body, know that it is still beautiful.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
If I can get a client to relax and de-stress, even a little, then I've done my job and I consider it a success.
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
My first "client" would have been my MOMO, my Grandmother. I talk more about her in another answer but she was the first person I ever massaged. It is because of her that I entered the profession.
